Given this historical context, mission and vision, the Congo Memory Institute has three key aims:

1. Archive of Memories
   Create a single, accessible archive of written and oral memories of atrocities committed in the Congo region since before, during and after European colonization.
    
2. Forums for Memories
   Provide forums for people to record and share their memories with others, with a special focus on those living in the Congo region.
    
   
3. Dialogue of Memories
   Nurture a shared dialogue for local, state and foreign actors to build a collective memory from which to redress past wrongs by reforming languages and institutions of oppression.
